Let me take you back to 2015 when I was on the hunt for the ultimate work-from-home job with just a laptop. Back then, the concept of virtual assistance was totally off my radar — until a friend casually dropped the suggestion in my lap. Cue the frantic Google search for “Virtual Assistant” and “work-from-home jobs.”

 

And just like that, I stumbled upon a goldmine. Turns out, virtual assistance wasn’t just a thing, it was a thriving industry waiting for folks like you and me to jump in. Suddenly, it clicked — this was something I could do to earn money at home with the skills I already had.

When it came time to slap a name on my virtual assistant business, I kept it simple – Ashley Assistance. Yep, you read that right. I literally used my last name, Ashley. And you know what? It worked like a charm.

 

With just that straightforward name, I managed to not only sell out my services but also replace my own income and even match my husband’s six-figure paycheck (he was a government contractor at the time, by the way). Crazy, right?

Here’s a little trick I like to share: start with your first client at $25 an hour, snag your second one at $30, and keep climbing from there. Before you know it, you’ll hit that sweet spot.

 

Now, here’s where things get interesting. Instead of just billing by the hour, many virtual assistants opt to create packages of hours. Picture this: your client signs on for a set number of hours each month – say, 10, 20, 40, or even 80 hours.
